um what?

It's already July 16th. When did that happen?! I have a month left in New York. And 2 months left until Asia. I am starting to get terrified. I do have some excited feelings mixed in there, but at the present moment the terror is a bit overwhelming. I'm attempting to calm the nerves by listening to Sigur Ros. Ahhh Icelandic tones. So soothing.

Anyway, yea. I'm kind of freaking out. I still have to pack up my apartment and figure out where I'm moving all of my stuff, or if I'm mailing it, or if I'm selling everything, or if I'm burying everything in Central Park under a huge 'X'... So many things to think about! It's getting difficult to balance real-life/person responsibilities with the whims of the college kid that's still in me that wants to enjoy another New York summer before fall classes. It is totally possible to do both, and many of my friends manage it gracefully, but I am pretty clumsy in every aspect of the word and in every aspect of life. I've been fumbling and tripping all over the place, swinging from intense think-about-the-future-and-prepare mode to happy-go-lucky-summer. First world problems, right? Whine whine whine. I'll stop being annoying now.

In terms of travel updates though, I've booked Vietnam! Woo! Well, I've booked the flight there. I'm still trying to figure out if I want to just cross the Cambodian border on foot/by bus and then just fly from there back to PI, or if I'll just fly back and forth, back to PI then to Cambodia...

Ah well. One step at a time. Let's go, Friday.

on the travel blog band wagon

So, as the title indicates, I have started this blog as a means of recording my fall travels in Asia. Seeing as it's July and I'm leaving for the Philippines in September (the 14th to be exact) I may have started this prematurely. However, though I may not be leaving any time soon, I have been preparing for it for the past few months- reading various articles, checking out travel blogs, booking plane tickets (Cebu Pacific Air is AWESOME), frequenting Chinatown Icecream Factory (totally necessary, especially in this ridiculous heatwave)...

It's all a bit overwhelming, to be honest. This may sound like a stupid and very obvious observation, but... Asia is big. That being said, I may be nervous and a wee bit terrified, but my excitement and eagerness to get going definitely overpowers those debbie downer feelings. So, woo Asia! Thus far, I am officially booked for: China (September 21 - October 4, where I plan to visit Shanghai for the World Fair, Nanjing, Xi'an and Beijing) and Japan (October 28 - November 4). Still to be booked: Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Yea. Asia is big.
